Who Is Winning the Race for New Car

So, the Winter is upon us and new car registrations have been counted and tallied. Regardless of the automotive industry posting worries of car sales being down this year it would still seem that there is cause for celebration by some of the leading automotive brands.

Apart of the new car registrations leader-board Top 10 are car automotive brands BMW, Vauxhall and Ford. As well as BMWs clear win in the ‘coolest brand’ stakes voted by online users within the UK and Birmingham this year they have two models that have in fact overlapped each other in the running.

The new Ford S-max was awarded for Technical Innovation this year adding to the winning hype already created by the leading manufacturer Ford, who also take the crown as the clear winner in 60 plate new car registrations. The popular and sparky Ford Fiesta is way ahead with over 19,000 Fiestas’ being registered last month- and almost 5000 more vehicle units being bought than that of the sporty Vauxhall Corsa.

Vauxhall have taken up third place, way ahead of the family Ford Focus. Vauxhall has been confirmed as the clear runner-up with Astra new-car registrations at a high of 66,104 units and the Vauxhall Corsa on 65,396.

The leader of the pack is clearly the Ford Fiesta with 85,941 units this year to date, however amongst the celebrations there are the disappointments too.

Automotive Industry News

Automotive industry news publications are directed at individuals within the industry. These publications are an informative and authoritative circular that provides a variety of information about the auto industry to its readers. The largest demographic of readers of these publications tend to be individuals who work in the auto industry.

Automotive service specialists tend to read this publication so they may be able to be kept up to date on industry related information. It is popular for car dealers to read this industry publication and require their service managers and other staff members to read it as well. They may also post articles that pertain to their manufacturer in the employee conference area so all staff sees the pertinent information.

These publications tend to hire writers who have a background in the auto industry and who are also proficient writers. There are some authors of these publications who have backgrounds as service department managers. Their involvement in the industry provides them with an ability to relate to their readers and provide information in a manner that provides the material the service staff is looking for.

While the tradition has been for printed versions of these trade publications, many have turned to the Internet in order to circulate the information they are providing for the industry specialists. The publication that is on the web may be the same that is published in printed form or it may contain unique information that is not available otherwise. This version of the publication may require an Internet membership on a monthly, quarterly or yearly basis.

In many cases these publications will feature articles on current trends. The information may be about different manufacturers or their lines of cars. Automotive industry news documents also aim to provide the employees of service departments with material that is directed at the vehicles they may work on.

Automotive news circulars can be connected to a specific automaker and may be created to provide their employees with new information about specific models. In many cases the publications that are published by specific carmakers may be directed at providing customers with information and these documents might be provided in waiting areas of service departments.

Many times the feature articles will be about suggestions for improved customer relations and may also provide insightful information about attracting new customers. This type of article may be beneficial to the employees that are in charge of marketing. Car shows and expositions are often listed, along with reviews of these events and highlights of new models.

Electric Cars

Many electric car automotive decision-makers, our own government included, believe that persistent electric vehicle hype, spiced with a viral marketing approach to the electric transportation revolution, will single-handedly spell success for the electric car. They trust that these alone will be the strategic components to influence prospective buyers of electric and plug-in hybrids. But will they truly be enough? We think not!

Various experts have a mindset similar to the Kevin Costner movie Field of Dreams – if you build it, they will come. This may not, however, be the case for the electric car. While Kevin Czinger, CEO of CODA Automotive, an electric car and battery designer and manufacturer, calls these first buyers early adapters, others may call them lab rats.

Getting electric vehicles on our roads is certainly one way to elevate buyer awareness. Potential buyers talking to friends and sharing knowledge about their potential new EVs will certainly accelerate EV sales, as will the construction of charging stations in parking lots, stores, and workplaces. Unfortunately, however, the correct solution to the problems posed by the necessary staging, promotion, and direly needed sales of this innovative mode of greener transportation lies somewhere between ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’ and ‘Green with Envy’!

As of now, the electric car-buying public is truly perplexed. To many of us, this is frightening technology with unfamiliar terminology. Even the electric car window sticker is confusing with too many new and different terms and no less than three different methods used by the EPA to estimate miles per gallon.

Another hurdle is the installation of home charging stations. This procedure fluctuates in cost among states and cities, depending greatly on the buyer’s location as well as the company performing the installation.

All the players within the electric car industry must keep in mind that the purchase of a vehicle is one of the biggest purchases we ever make. In order for the all-electric vehicle and its counterpart the plug-in electric hybrid to reach the mainstream within the automotive industry, a multitude of puzzles need to be solved to jump-start the electric car revolution.

So far, today’s electric automobile owners – early adapters – are either green-conscious by nature or are the few who have waited for green car technology and welcome it. Up to this point, the majority of EV buyers have been part of one or both of these two groups! Based on industry surveys, the principal motives for buying electric cars have been either to reduce our dependency on foreign oil or a fascination with the technological innovation behind these cars.

If you trust the gossip, you’d think electric vehicles and plug-in electric hybrids have taken over the roads, we’ve been liberated from foreign oil, climate-change is a thing of the past, and our planet has been saved. Regrettably, however tenacious the gossip may be, it’s tough to argue with the numbers. Nissan reported that they would sell 25,000 Leafs in 2011. General Motors said they’d sell 15,000 Volts in the model’s first year. The fact is that Chevy has only sold roughly 2,500 plug-in hybrid Volts. The Leaf, by Nissan, is a just few cars off their pace with sales of nearly 2,200 models so far.

It has become painfully obvious that buyers from around the world, especially Americans, are still apprehensive with respect to purchasing electric vehicles. The automotive buying-public needs to be educated; the buyers’ nervousness in relation to the technology and EV’s in general needs to be addressed and eliminated. Automotive executives, government agencies, and green organizations must instruct the public about the electric vehicle market, familiarizing them with the technology.

What Are the Properties of Automotive

Automotive adhesives are high performance structural glues that take very little time to cure and are capable of offering excellent bond strengths both to dissimilar and similar substrates. These cementing agents are created for improving vehicle performance and are also known for enhancing the car’s comfort and safety features by making it lighter. You can use these glues for completing a wide range of installation and repair jobs. They have both exterior and interior applications, for instance, you can use them to repair deck lid flanges, hoods, interior dashboards, doors and roof panels of cars. Automotive adhesives are formulated specially for sticking surfaces made from steel, aluminum and other metals together. They have emerged as perfect substitutes of mechanical fasteners and welds and have played big role in increasing the durability and reducing weight and manufacturing costs of modern-day vehicles.

What are the main reasons behind the popularity of these cementing agents? As mentioned in the section above, automotive adhesives are instrumental in replacing mechanical fasteners and welds to join different kinds of dissimilar and similar substrates. The main reason, for which they have become the most common choice when it comes to repairing vehicle parts, is: they don’t require priming or degreasing to join car parts. If you use these glues, you will not more be the victim of issues like failure and fatigue in areas surrounding the fasteners and welds. To know more about the reason behind the popularity of these cementing agents, get acquainted with their benefits:

• They are capable of increasing the overall stiffness of your car allowing it to offer improved acoustic performance and handling.

• These cementing materials are capable of decreasing costs by minimizing weld spots. When these adhesives are used, manufacturers can opt for mid-strength steels instead of using high-strength steels.

• Use of these cementing materials reduces weight of a vehicle significantly, which in turn decreases CO2 emissions.

• The durability of a car’s body and chassis increases notably after application of this glue type. This ability of the bonding agent makes it a perfect remedy for failure and fatigue found around the fasteners and spot welds.

• You can use these glues to successfully prevent occurrence of corrosion triggered by environmental conditions.

• The manufacturing procedures of the majority of the modern-day vehicles involve use of automotive adhesives. Laboratory analysis of these vehicles has revealed that use of structural adhesives make their parts more crash resistant and that too without increasing their overall body weight.

That means jobs, and for top performing employees, potential salaries in the $100,000 range.

However, it’s important to know that there’s more to selling and leasing cars than simply being an expert in automobiles. In the past, consultants needed little if any formal training to break into the field. In today’s market however, an automotive sales training course is increasingly critical, and gives graduates a step up on untrained candidates. Indeed, automotive sales and leasing consultants who begin careers in sales at car dealers often find that although they know a lot about the different vehicles on the road, they lack the customer relationship skills required to really be successful in the field. Fortunately, automotive training centers offer courses designed to help students become well-rounded sales consultants able to meet the challenges of the field, and be successful. Topics covered in these courses typically include:

· The sales consultant’s role
· The selling process
· “Meet and greet” techniques
· Legal aspects of sales and leases
· Performance standards in retail selling
· Effective presentation skills
· Customer satisfaction strategies

A typical day in the life of an automotive sales and leasing consultant is busy and exciting. Newly employed consultants can be expected to be responsible for a variety of tasks, including answering and following-up with existing and potential clients via phone and, increasingly, email. Consultants will also be required to keep abreast of automotive development for the brands they are responsible for – as well as the competition’s. They also have to be well versed in the technical aspects of creating leases with a dealership’s finance department. In addition to this, there is walk in traffic as well as day-to-day administrative tasks. Sound like a lot of responsibility? It is, but it’s also very rewarding, and fortunately, automotive sales training courses prepare students for every aspect of the position’s role.

Car Dealers

The bustling automotive industry is being hit at the centre of the heart, their very purpose – to sell swanky, steamy cars that will be handed over to a carer who will give it lots of love and attention, increasing their sales and status as the essential key for keeping their body in shape. Although, without nourishing sales, their body is falling apart, which is where the magical Scrappage scheme drives right on by, fueling the body with appropriate resources to stay healthy.

Scrappage gives car dealers the protection of time. This scheme that is keeping many dealers balanced on the mountain of sand cannot hold them forever, they will have to learn to stand firm, on their own, with confidence and assertiveness to keep them in this game powered up by competition. Scrappage gives you the incentive of a shiny £2000 which will fall straight into your lap. This will bring the final cost of the car that is labelled as The One, stripped of money that you could use to spend on big orange dice or stickers, to wash a unique colour over it, illuminating to every jealous face that it belongs to you. Only they won’t know that you had £2000 knocked off it.

It journeys from May 2009 to February 2010, so savour the choice of vehicles that are swooping around in your window of opportunity. Exchange your ten year old car within this time span for a brand new car that is in desperate need of a fun drive. The scheme has so far proven to cook up much success for the automotive industry. It has undoubtedly raised sales for new cars over the past month and is racing past the half way line toward their goal, continuing to strive on for even more success.

As everyone knows, however, the positive will usually trail along a negative behind it. This scheme is excellent for the state of the automotive industry at this time, but it will not last forever. It’s the stabilisers on a child’s bike, the car dealers will still put their stamina into moving along, but they know that their safe and they have that security that they could get used to too much. The stabilisers will be removed and who can safely put a bet on it that the industry will have that kick in them to persevere and ride around without help from the Scrappage scheme? The risk of sales drooling back into the pit is one that has had to be made for the sake of doing something for the automotive industry. If no risks were made, the industry could have crumbled already, there is still a possibility of this happening, but the likelihood has been cut and this risk could save a fair few car dealers from completely crashing to the floor.
